Stepped up my insect defenses in response to an aggressive assault by an insect force seeking refuge from the heat outdoors in my cool 90 degree house.
Funniest song I've heard in a while (note: there is a difference between 'a while' and 'awhile,' one's a noun and one's an adverb, just learned that): Be Your Bro by Those Darlins
Friendship bracelet day at the family's house! Everyone made at least one and everyone loved it, even the boys who insisted they have 'boy colors' and when I said that the five that I had were all that I had were quick to agree that they could be boy colors if worn with the correct attitude. I could now support myself by making friendship bracelets for the neighborhood, all of whom have heard about my skills and want one of their own.
I have been listening to this song pretty much nonstop since I got it: Hacienda Motel by Pickwick
Wedding. Jordan style. Well over a hundred women, in two straight lines so close that their legs touch. Kids running screaming and crying in the aisle between, trailing candy wrappers and spilling pop all over. By the way, out of frame on the right is a huge banquet hall thing, almost completely devoid of people.
And for your listening pleasure, a song that took a while to grow on me, but grow it did: Kiss Me Again by Jessica Lea Mayfield
Look at those Brits go! Climbing all about in their fancy clothes and boat shoes and posh accents. I stayed on the ground and wondered at their prowess. Wet by Sean Rowe (shout out to the 'burgh! Better that somewhere where people get beaten then cut others with a razor blade!)
Tour guide Maria (and my lovely host for the week) in character showing us around Little Petra, the hidden gem of the Wadi. Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh (that's some serious Oh's) by Say Hi (I know, both the title and band name are ridiculous, ignore it and listen)
Peep that side-eye. That little girl is not impressed by the iguana we found outside the school. Only the Brits would hold it, and only one boy would touch it out of 30-some girls and 20-some boys. Beat the Devil's Tattoo Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Spent the morning in magnificent Petra. As I've been there few times, and am exceedingly lazy, instead of walking around seeing all the sites, we hiked up to a cave and just sat there in the shade for most of the trip. Was going for an epic staring off into the distance shot, but Edison was unable to pull it off and dissolved into giggles. Oh well. 'Tis still magnificent. My Only Offer by Mates of State
The view from a fellow volunteer's bedroom window. Not too shabby. I spent the last few days here hanging out in the cool southern breeze, and helping out (sort of) with an English camp run by real live British people who speak real English. Stained Glass by Thomas Kivi

I'm on my way out the door and won't be home for a few days, so you will all have to muddle through without me. Here's a song to ease the pain: Now We Can See by Poison Control Center
Went to some friends' house these last few days but forgot to bring my camera so I missed my chance to take a few pictures that are not of my cat or of me just laying around. Oh well. Innit he cute?
My time to go home song: by Poison Control Center, Being Gone
Watching The Ultimate Fighter (I love you Forrest!), making friendship bracelets, and eating Oatmeal Creme Pies. My life is so full of win. Stranger, by Lord Huron, cause it's so pretty.
Update: the amount of time it takes to complete a bracelet greatly exceeds the amount of time it is fun to make a bracelet.
Seriously I have the best family (Kathie, you're family too) ever. This is just some of the contents of my birthday package overload. How many days do you think it will take me to finish all this? I'll take bets (to help you all out: I've been home half an hour and I think half that 2 pound bag of swedish fish is already gone) Also, got a letter from Marlena today, which pushed the day from completely awesome to eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee SO AWESOME!
Today's song Sinister Kid (really if I was being honest about sharing the song that I listened to most each day, or that I enjoyed the most that day, probably 8 out of 10 days would be Black Keys songs, so I'm gonna try to space them out)
The courtyard behind my house from my perch on the roof. This is my life now people. I sit in the house and sweat and moan about how damn hot it is all day. Then I go up on the roof as the sun is setting and spend the next 6 or 7 hours staring at the sky and trying to spy on my neighbors. Seer (that word just looks really weird to me right now) by Motopony
It's hot. Like real hot. He stayed like this without moving an inch for hours. How do I know? I was laying in the same position right next to him for hours. Up to Our Nex by Robyn Hitchcock and the Venus 3 (it's got an 'x' so you know it must be super hip)
It is officially too hot to sleep inside my house. So I pulled my farsha out onto the roof and slept under the moon. Unfortunately, there's not so very much to do up there, so I spent a few hours playing tetris and listening to music. 'Twas beautiful.
Fo yo ears: Freedom of Speech by Immortal Technique (caution kiddies: explicit)
Flashback because I didn't take a picture today because at no point did I get dressed or leave my bed. Neil has always been a baller, as you can tell by his pose. Not a care in the world.
Song of the day:by Sun Airway Oh Naoko
My sole, dubious defense against mosquitoes. Fumakilla: great rap name, not such a great electronic mosquitoes destroyer.
Also decided to start tacking songs onto this. Maybe not every day, but every day that a song leaves enough of an impression on the day to merit a mention. And for our first song: Karaoke Soul by Tom McRae.
Almost home. That's my house up there with the huge pink flower bush. It's easy to spot from far away which is by turns awesome because I can keep my goal in sight, and horrible because it is so very very far away and with so many hills between us.
